How to Be Calm when You are not.

We’ve all been there … something happens, whether it is as small as multiple potty accidents on the floor from your toddler or as mundane as the washing machine breaking right when it seems your laundry pile is the biggest it has ever been … to something more incredibly turbulent such as an ill child with a diagnosis that just doesn’t seem fair to a family member holding on to bitterness and anger, keeping your family apart with hurtful rifts …

Your life is turbulent, your emotion are worn thin …

And yet …

And yet … we cannot let our circumstances, no matter how frustrating or annoying they may seem in the moment, affect our attitude and our vision of the day.

Do you have children? If so, they are watching and listening and hearing everything. I write this as a reminder to myself, not to preach these words to someone else. I am learning every day …

Are you waiting on the Lord for something? An answer to your current situation, a change of paths, a new course to take, a healing?

We need to fix our eyes on Jesus.

While reading, I came across the story of a godly woman named Ella, a missionary oversees. Her story is described in the book Calm my Anxious Heart.

Her secret to contentment was as follows:

Never allow yourself to complain about anything—not even the weather.

Never picture yourself in any other circumstances or someplace else.

Never compare your lot with others.

Never allow yourself to wish this or that had been otherwise.

Never dwell on tomorrow—remember that tomorrow is God’s, not yours.

Do you want to be happy?
Do you want a calm spirit and a peaceful heart?
Do you have ache to have your spirit quieted?

In a day and age where many people seems overly anxious about something and worried about another thing … remember this:

\

He that handles a matter wisely shall find good:
and whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he.
