Naps & Books.

A simple afternoon craft with the three bigger girls while the babies slept … painting rocks on green grass, the maple tree’s leafy branches providing shade and the birds singing in the treetop …

mountains painted to remind one of British Columbia …

Naptimes are wonderful and babies wake up happy and refreshed and ready for the second half of the day …

We’ve wrapped up this school year and I’m setting my sights [slowly] on organizing for the next year… after attending a few [hectic, very busy and packed!] used book sales/homeschooling conferences over the past few weeks, our home library is quickly growing [oh, how I love books!]. How fun it was to come across this delightful book, All-of-a-Kind Family, which we will start reading tonight for bedtime. It’s an adorable book, written in the 1950s, following the stories and adventures of a family of five little sisters, growing up in New York at the turn of the century.  The stories inside these charming pages sound incredibly and humorously familiar …

The smile on the library lady’s face deepened. In front of her desk stood five little girls dressed exactly alike.

“My goodness! Are you all one family?”
“Yes, all one family,” Henny spoke up …

“And a step-and-stairs family!” The library lady laughed and the tiny freckles on her pert nose seemed to laugh with her.

“That’s a good name for us,” Ella said. “Some people call us an all-of-a-kind-family.”

“All of a very nice kind,” smiled the library lady.

This section reminded me so much of our Lady at the Library meeting

[What a fun read this will be!]

Speaking of reading, we are currently reading through the book of Proverbs as a family right now, along with reading Wisdom and the Millers to go along with it {also a rather adorable book, very simple and clean}. I do wish I had this to go with our reading – it looks great for the little ones to color.

So even though school is over, it is really never over. We’re all learning and reading together all the time. I love it!  I cannot imagine my days without being a homeschool family. It is such an investment and such an wonderful life choice for us. I am SO very grateful to the Lord for this opportunity …
