{Motherhood}

“Your children deserve you right now
because ten years from now, your children will be grown and on their own …

your opportunity [to work] will still be there because your talent is there.

Ten years from now, you will still be able to follow your talents and goals, but ten years from now, your children will not be children anymore.

They will be adults, and you cannot rewind that and you cannot get that time back… and you can’t say ‘That will wait’ because it won’t wait.

They [your children] need you right now … your child needs you right now.

It shouldn’t be called attachment parenting or co-sleeping or losing your ‘me-time’ …this is nothing new …

It’s just called mothering.

Motherhood does not enslave you …

– it frees you.”

Liz Oh, my goodness!!! I love this! I totally feel the same way. I always get told (when out and about), “wow, you have your hands full.” I always reply, “I’ve waited my whole life to have my hands this full.” I really don’t like that society looks at kids as if they are this terrible burden. It is so nice to read something so uplifting. 🙂

Claire Were you sending that to me today Gillian? Wow, this has been heavy on my mind lately. Thanks for reminding me why I’m “just a stay at home mom”. My kids are the most important job I will EVER have. And your right, they need us now. Thanks so much for your blog! xo
