I’m sitting here on my bed, my 18 month old, Lucia (Sweet Pea), is snuggled up beside me, rubbing her soft pink blankie across the tip of her button nose while her eyes lag into Dreamland. In the past 24 hours, she’s had four spontaneous nose bleeds, which has led us to keep an eye on her this weekend. I know it’s nothing serious – they are just nosebleeds, after all – but the site of your daughter, your baby, covered in blood, her sheets and her blankets stained with fresh blood, dripping over the crib and onto the floor, is somewhat … gruesome. And four time in a row?!
(And if any of you know me and know me well, you will agree when I say “I don’t do blood.” Seriously. I pass out like a frail, little ol’ leaf. In fact, once, Lacey bumped her lip on the corner of the wall when she was first learning to walk and just the bit of blood made me fall over into the nearest chair and spend a few moments blacked out. I’m lucky I could handle the nosebleed episodes this weekend!)
But as I sit here, cuddling Lucia and letting her spend a few extra late night minutes with mommy after a beautiful Sunday of family time, I can’t help but let me thoughts and heart wonder …
I met an amazing family this weekend … an amazing family who opened up their hearts and arms to adopt two beautiful children from Africa … I wonder whose arms would be cuddling these two precious little angels if it wasn’t for a beautiful Ontario couple who decided to look into the possibility of creating a family together …
When I first heard about their story of adoption, my heart was touched … adoption stories really tug on my heart. I often wonder what God has in store for my family in the future – if adoption might be a possibility – as it is something I can’t ignore – over and over, it pulls on my heart strings … it’s something that I have been praying about …
I feel absolutely honored to have photographed the Walker family and their new addition … just two weeks ago, they returned from South Africa with their sweet baby girl, Adaya …
Her Zulu name means little flower … how fitting …
Mikai was adopted by the Walkers from South Africa in 2007 … and he is absolutely gorgeous! Oh, I just loved meeting him!
He’s now a big brother!
What an angel ….
And their family is complete ….
I have many, many more images from this session but I wanted to share a bit for the Walkers since I know they will be waiting patiently!
God bless your sweet family in this new adventure … your testimony is already so strong …
