{Gracefully} Aging

“The emerging woman … will be strong-minded, strong-hearted, strong-souled,
and strong-bodied…strength and beauty must go together.”
-Louisa May Alcott, The Old Fashioned Girl

{updated with links to oils and amber bottles}

I do not wish to be vain, but I do want to take care of my skin. Being outside in the spring and summer months so much, it feels like my skin takes on too much sun and, therefore, damage. I do wear a large sun hat to cover my face if I will be out in long periods of sun. However, I also wanted to come up with a simple face serum to use at home in the evenings to help with the maintenance of my {aging} skin.

One of my favorite tools to use at home is Rosehip oil. Even just saying the name sounds dreamy and romantic to me. What girl can resist roses?

A little information about Rosehip oil …

Used for hundreds of year for beauty treatments, Rosehip oil is full of vitamins & antioxidants. It is used to correct dark spots and helps soothe the skin, restoring elasticity and repairing damage by the sun. It soaks into the skin easily and can heal scars and diminish wrinkles & fine lines. Rosehip oil is made from the ‘leftovers’ of inside of the rose bloom – the ‘hips’ of the rose, which are usually pruned by gardeners but are actually quite invaluable.

In this serum, you will also use:

Lavender  essential oil (soothes the skin, eases chapped and dry skin)

Geranium essential oil(used to treat acne, reduces inflammation and redness, antiseptic and aids in healing wounds)

-Frankincense essential oil (promotes healthy skin regeneration, keeps your skin healthy, known to reverse the signs of aging, helps reduce scars and blemishes)

Sweet Almond oil

Here is how I prepare my serum:

I mixed it together in an amber bottle and have been using it for a few months on my face. In the winter months, it has been especially nourishing.
