Old Fashioned Enjoyment

“I declare after all, there is no enjoyment like reading!
How much sooner one tires of any thing than a book!”
– Jane Austen

One of {truly} lovely aspects to homeschooling is introducing books – well written books –
to everyone in the family .. myself included. We loosely follow the Sonlight reading suggestions,
along with help from other homeschooling friends who are years ahead of us. We also tie into Charlotte Mason’s reading list.
I love, love love introducing the girls to the worlds within the pages of the enchanting books we have lined up on our bookshelves.
It is a dream of mine to have a true library within our own home, full of the classics, adventures and biographies, lovely tales written with proper English and fabulous writing …

In a world where screens and ipad this and ipod that, it makes my momma heart happy when I see the girls , sitting at will and enjoying their reading …

P.S. Here is a  short list of our favorites that come to mind:

Little House in the Prairie
Anne of Green Gables
Circle C Adventures (for the young girls)
Misty of Chincoteauge
Stuart Little
the Beatrix Potter Tales
Wind in the Willows
Little Women
Caddie Woodlawn
May Amelia
Sarah Plain & Tall
Elsie Dinsmore
{although we have the books, we have listened more on audio for this series)
Betsy Tacy
Gone Away Lake
