Let It Show.

With childlike innocence and crooked smile, she carefully tucks the handmade pink and white blanket around her ‘baba’ …

She turns and says “Shhhh ….” her chubby little fingers brought up her to mouth, motioning her baby is sleeping and we must be still …

With gentleness that only a two year old toddler can show, she takes great care to fix her baby’s head and snuggles her into a comfortable position ….

She giggles as she carefully and slowly picks up her baby and rocks her with exuberance and joy …bouncing her baby up and down and laughing with delight …

….oh, that mothers today would rock their babies against their chest instead of tucking them away in battery operated swings and hold them with joy … that they would cradle their children in their arms with such new-found happiness … your child is not a burden to be carried or managed, scheduled away or time slotted in. Your child is a gift, a treasure entrusted to you by God … do not complain when you need to stay up late many nights, rocking your baby to sleep .. sit up with your child to do their homework without sighing and wondering what else you could be doing this small amount of time … take each day as a gift with your child, a day that holds memories to be made and small treasures to be found …

She giggles and talks to her baby, laughs her little laugh and her eyes twinkle as she squeezes her baby with hugs.

…. mothers … you may feel tired and worn out but let your eyes show the joy of raising children … it is not a interruption in life but an incredible blessing, a magnificent calling … you are a raising up a little person who needs your love and discipline, care and nurture … your child needs to see your joy and sparkles in your eyes …

She points to her baby’s nose, kisses the plastic rosy cheek and looks up for approval from her own mommy, who is watching from across the room …

Dear Mother, look not to other people for your approval for your work may go unnoticed … instead, look to God – because He truly sees everything you do. He knows how many times you wiped your child’s runny nose today or tucked in their soggy mitten into their coat sleeve or packed their lunch kit with care and slathered butter on their bread for dinner or carried six loads of laundry up and down your stairs … or filled the bath with bubbles and warm water to wash away the day’s worries and tucked them carefully into bed with your tired hands and happy heart … your job is amazing, young mother … know that you were called to be your child’s mother. No one else could do this job you do.

Enjoy your calling and let your child know you find joy in being just that – a mom.
