Rock me to Sleep.

And the world continues.

The clock ticks on. The days merge. The schedules begin slowly but surely, threatening to fill up once-beautiful grey days of sweet baking, mid-day cuddling, random cleaning, spontaneous card games on the living room floor, late nights watching Sound of Music, house guests returning to their regular lives ….

I feel determined. Determined to keep the calm in a busy family of seven. Determined to make our life, our home, a haven. I’ll light candles, cuddle children, listen to practices on the piano, read many lively stories, homeschool and keep many grey days open in the calendar.

“Clasped to your heart in a loving embrace
With your light lashes just sweeping my face
Never here after to wake or to weep
Rock me to sleep mother rock me to sleep

Backward, flow backward, O tide of the years!
I am so weary of toil and of tears —
Toil without recompense, tears all in vain,
Take them and give me my childhood again;”
