{Five}

“He that raises a large family does, indeed, while he lives to observe them,
stand a broader mark for sorrow; but then he stands a broader mark for pleasure too.

– Benjamin Franklin

The thing about a {somewhat} big family is there is always something to celebrate. A blessing to count. A joy to receive.

For the past 48 hours, we celebrated Lucia and her fifth birthday.

This year, we are doing small{er} family parties …  our own celebration as a family, full of love and sparkles, cake and ice cream.

There’s something so wonderful about making sure our children know they are loved and special …

… chosen by God to be in this particular family …

{cake pops homemade with love by Auntie Kate – we nearly died laughing while making these and then almost swore off baking forever! They were such tedious, horrid little things to make,  but they were Lucia’s favorite part of her birthday… }

… the birthday girl’s table….

Auntie Kate also made this adorable doorway theatre … isn’t it darling?

watching the puppet show…

… someone interrupting the puppet show …

a charming tea party guest …

Is there anything more lovely than tea {apple juice} in a real tea cup? I think not.

… love upon love upon love upon love … being in a big family does not mean you are left out … it means more love to go around …

the pretty, pink rose cake that Kate made …

Wishes made for a special little girl …

We love you, Sweet Pea. xx
