The Christmas Angel.

My girlies went to be super giddy and excited …

Because tomorrow is December 1st. And in our family …. we LOVE Christmas and we LOVE December!

An entire month of celebrating loved ones, baking cookies, family memories, steadfast traditions and holiday joy. And for our family, as Christians, it’s also centered on the birth of Jesus. It’s such an exciting time … it’s a month of love, spreading cheer and trying very hard to focus on less of the materialism and more of the heart.

………Enter the Christmas Angel!

What is The Christmas Angel?

Think Elf on a Shelf … but with a twist.

A very good twist.
A beautiful tradition that will teach your children that it is truly better to give than to receive.

First, you read this adorable little book  with your children …

… it teaches your children it is WAY more fun and so much more blessed to give than to receive … it tells the story of Baby Jesus and his birth and how we should be using Christmas as a time to bless others and spread good cheer to as many people as possible.

That’s when your sweet little Christmas Angel comes to your aid…

Each morning, your little Christmas Angel will write a special message in Angel Dust, encouraging your children to do something that will spread Christmas love … it will encourage your children to, instead of thinking of themselves, think and care for someone else. Compassion. Love. And in turn, joy.

Baking cookies for your neighbour … calling Grandma to tell her you love her, sending a love note to a relative in the mail, helping a friend, sharing toys, taking food to the food bank, singing Christmas carols at your local retirement home… the list is endless!

Tomorrow morning, the girls will wake up to see their Angel, who will have a new message and a new special location each morning in December, will have her message written in the golden, sparkle dust – and her message will read:

“Bake cookies for Mr. R.” {our neighbour}

And we will – we’ll package them up and trek on over to his place and deliver the box of cookies. And that will be our first day of spreading Christmas cheer … I think I’m just as excited as the girls to have this new, adorable and unselfish tradition to begin in our family …

As parents, we have such a huge responsibility to ensure we are teaching our good values and compassion to our children. It’s very easy to just get caught up in what we want to buy our little ones for Christmas, or what is on their wish list or how you are going to manage all the schedules, parties and get-togethers … but are you, as a parent, helping your son or daughter focus on a deeper, more meaningful reason behind the season of Christmas?

After discovering this cute little story online, I knew it would be a great giveaway on the blog! So you have a chance right now to enter to win this gift – the complete set of The Christmas Angel, including the adorable plush angel, a lovely tin box for safe storing and a pouch of angel sparkles. {gold glitter!}

All you have to do is leave a comment here on the blog and you will be entered. For ‘liking’ or sharing this post on facebook, you will receive a second entry. Make sure you come back and let me know how many entries you have done!

This is going to be a quick contest so you can start your new tradition as soon as possible this Christmas season. I’ll use Random.org to pick a winner by Sunday!

{And don’t forget -this is pretty special because you cannot purchase The Christmas Angel in Canadian stores yet!}

May you have joy and *fun* as you restore the true spirit of Christmas with your children this December. xo
