Easter.
I can hardly believe it’s here already …strange because it’s so early this year {feels WAY too soon!} and strange because it’s another mark in time getting us closer to baby #5’s due date.
Augh! We’re almost there!!
I’m heading to the midwives soon and have lots of questions for them … I’m pretty sore by now, but overall doing okay. Baby is moving a lot and is still very active (thankful for that) With planning a home birth, the get-ready-list is a little bit different and feels almost unfamiliar this time around. I mean, for the hospital, I know what I need, but this is different now. There are quite a few more aspects to think about at home – the girls (I am hoping they are sleeping and this labour happens at night!), who I want to attend the birth (that’s kinda exciting since there is a limit in the hospital as to who can be in the room), the details about after … we’re so used to being at the hospital for all our birth/first night experiences. Will Abby have to go back to work in the first 24 hours? Will I go crazy knowing there will be tons of laundry to do the next day but wanting to stay low key and snuggle in with our new baby … the details of dinner with four hungry other little children waiting for mommy to make lunch/dinner, cleaning of the house, etc. Oh yes, just all these little details running through my brain. I know it will work out but I really would love for it all to come together very smoothly. Don’t worry – I’ll keep you posted. 😉
Today, the girls and I made Resurrection Eggs to illustrate the story of Easter.
Have you heard of Resurrection Eggs?
They are so wonderful for children!
Each egg holds an item and a Scripture verse telling the Easter story. I found the tutorial here online to make our own (we did make them a few years ago, but Lucia can’t remember that far back so we definitely wanted to do it again or our new little ones.) You can open the eggs daily or all at once (we did it around the lunch table today) and tell your child the story of Jesus with visuals – one egg will hold nails, another will hold a piece of bread (Last Supper), dice (for the casting of lots), etc. All items can be from the dollar store or just found around your house.
Lucia loved the cross and has claimed it as her own …
{They’re also great for Sunday School lessons on Easter Suday!}
Traditional Easter eggs were also dyed with some great help from a special godmother from England (We love you, Kate!!)Â … such fun for the girls!
{Do you know why dye eggs anyways? It’s a question worth asking – here’s the answer!}
And we served Easter bunny (and chickie) crumpets with whipped cream and homemade jam …
They didn’t last long on the plates. OH SO GOOD.
Did somebody say bunny treats? Lady Alice didn’t want to miss out on the Easter fun.
How blessed am I? Despite being exhausted right now at the end of this pregnancy, I am so thankful for these sweet little faces that keep me going and give Easter a deeper meaning as Abby and I teach them the reason we celebrate …
Happy Easter to you and your family! xx
Philippians 3:10-12
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings,
becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect,
but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
