One of {those} days …

Do you ever have one of those days?

Where you wake up to crying, unhappy kids. The bags under your eyes have made a red carpet appearance. You have 1,000 things to to before noon. You’re out of cream for your must-have-coffee. You’re behind on your overdue paperwork. You KNOW the kids’ rooms need a HUGE cleaning. The laundry is as high as Mt. Everest and as stinky as the local dump. And your energy levels are about as low as the bass singer in your church band. Ohhhhh, sorry, that was a really pathetic analogy but like I said, I’m tired. Did you know I used to be writer? Yeah, can’t really tell, eh?

Today feels like a big pimple on the face of my life.

Oh, speaking of pimples, I have one – one that cannot be covered up with makeup. Just lovely. I think I’ll do the grocery shopping at midnight tonight.

But you must plug on. You must drag your sorry butt out of your warm cozy bed and you must stuff in those earplugs to block out the screaming from your three LOVELY children. Okay, so I didn’t plug my ears but I wouldn’t mind doing it from the hours of 8-11 a.m. and from 4-5 p.m. (we call those the witchy hours in this household). C’mon. I know you all relate.

I’m having one of those days – and I am paying for keeping my three girls out late last night, visiting Gramma over an hour away. Why do I think three overtired chidlren – under the age of five – are going to be manageable the next day?

Note to self. Reinforce strict bedtime routines this week.

Ahhhhh, but I am going to smile, pour myself another coffee and take this day hour by hour.

Is it 7 p.m. yet??!?!?

This is what I want to be doing right now … chilling on my back deck, snuggled under blankets and proofing … (Yes, I do enjoy my work- but seriously, can you call this work?)

Hubby hung up this light on the back deck for me … pretty, eh? I’m glad he lets me be girlie.

You know what would cheer me up? Leave me some blog lovin’ and let me know I’m not alone on this WONDERFUL Mondays of all Mondays.

ROSE L. I hear ya girl……that is the wonders of being a mom:) I count myself lucky even though there are some rough times with babies/toddlers I am so blessed to be going thru it because if I wasn’t a mom I would never know how it would feel like:)

Carry Aultman I know just how you feel, sounds like one of those days when my 4 year old twins are both in overload mode and all you want to do is hug them until it passes and they won’t let you. Even just a hug from them until it stops would be awesome, just keep in mind that those hugs are just around the corner.

Erika I had a day JUST like yours, but with a 4 month old and a toddler, LOL! You looked great and were all smiles when I saw you yesterday. So not fair that you can drink coffee, 2 more months and I can as well!

Lita Gillian you have such a nice cozy spot for your working space, it is wonderful that your hubby likes to make you comfy so you can work your magic!! I hope you have a great evening, I love checking your blog!! Are you going to be having anymore La Tienda parties? I was out of town for the last one and would love to participate – I am spreading the word and I hope it helps 😀

Debbie My three (5 and under as well) were very grumpy today too . . . I forgot it was a Monday! 🙂 That’s usually the grumpy day as we get back into the weekly routine! Hopefully tomorrow will be better for you.

Kayla I can relate but mines probably not as bad as your considering I only have one child lol. But Mondays are always the hardest day of the week. Especially if your child takes a late nap (hannah just did) and you know your in for it tomorrow morning cause shes gonna be up late tonight. Yeah totally not looking forward to that.

Catherine I hope things are going better for you now. You KNOW I relate to what you’re saying. I did 4 loads of laundry yesterday, and still have two diaper loads to go! On “those” days, I just try to make it until bedtime, and if I can’t do that, I try to make it until Greg gets home!
BTW, I *love* the photo of you, your girls and your mom! You look so much like her. It’s all in the eyes!

Mom Gillian, I know the kids are tired b/c they stayed here too late last night but I have to say… I LOVED having you guys here! It made my Mother’s Day so very special! I LOVE the “little” people they are, I LOVE their tiny voices, I LOVE squeezing their sweet bums, I LOVE their giggles, I LOVE the way they say words incorrectly and with lisps, I LOVE that they are miniature Abby & Gillians! I LOVE YOU!! Mom xo

Michelle Amato Hi Gillian, I can totally relate. I feel like this most mornings while trying to rush out to door to work while getting one very pampered princess ready for school who has now refused to wear anything but spaghetti strapped dresses and with my little munchkin still half asleep wondering where the high pitched yelling is coming from….By the time I get in the truck start my 1hr drive to work I feel like I have already put in a full day’s worth of work and then some!!! Just wanted you to know you are not alone and trucking on through these days only makes the fun ones more memorable and ever lasting!!!! Take it easy and keep on smilin’ 🙂

May 11, 2009 - 1:37 pm

Julie Gillian, I seriously forwarded this to my hubby because I want a back deck just like THAT!! I have been trying to get him on board for a few years now, so maybe the visual will help move it along LOL!

Stacey Hi Gillian,
Is it rude of me to admit that I am glad to see you DO lead a normal life?? Of course everyone has days like this, but it always looks like your life is so perfect with those three beautiful little princesses you have dancing around. 🙂 In all seriousness, you know that “momma said there would be days like this”.. and the important thing is to just get through it with a smile.. (even if it is pretend for awhile) Chin up girl!! Look forward to more happy times very soon!

May 11, 2009 - 1:23 pm

Rebecca Gillian, you are not alone! I’m glad you wrote this today cause I’m thinking I really needed it! I’m 9 months preggo and tired with no energy to do anything right now and my washer broke four days ago and the pile is getting bigger. I ran over to my in-law with 4 loads to do! So tired! Hope it gets better for you. I hoping to relax during nap time!

May 11, 2009 - 1:19 pm

Anna-Karin That looks so comfy!!
I would love to be able to sit on a porch in the evening and proof like that. In my case I would be chewed up my mosquitos in no time, lol!
