Soup & Sparkles.

It’s been an unseasonably cold and rainy week here in Ontario over the past few days.

So today, we made soup. Good-for-the-soul-thick-hearty-soup.

I got the recipe here, but had to tweak it a little because I didn’t have all the ingredients (mainly turmeric!!).

It was truly scrumptious.

And we made homemade playdough. Pink raspberry scented playdough.

Don’t let that empty “Playdough” can fool you – we made this from scratch …

I *know* you want the recipe, right? Yes, you do …. unless you hate playdough all over your carpet (reason #1 why you let the kids play with it on the hardwood floor).

So here’s the recipe. 🙂

1 cup white flour
1/2 cup salt
2 tablespoon cream of tartar (find it in the spice section)
1 tablespoon oil
1 cup water
food coloring

To make it scented, all you have to do is add a little packet of Koolaid. The girls picked raspberry. It smelled nearly as fabulous as those awesome Strawberry Shortcake toys I, I mean, the GIRLS, love so much …

(Note: We’re not living in a greenhouse. It’s been so cold lately we’ve had to bring in the front porch flowers. Looks pretty except Lucia keeps picking bouquets from them.  Oh. And I see they need some watering, too.)

Of course, what’s playdough without some sparkles?!

And I’ve been busy potty training this little turkey.

So far, so good. I’d say we 97% there. Yahoooo!

I was reminded tonight how quickly these little ladies will be growing up. I’ve been feeling tired, worn out and emotionally drained over the last few days … and while, yes, it’s tiring being a mom – having that constant to-do list, the never-ending-laundry piles, the forever-need-to-clean-up-the entire house … this demanding stage in parenting is going to go by way. too. fast. And I don’t even want to miss a thing in the lives of my three girlies. I will keep the tired eyes open long enough to read stories at night. And cuddle as late as they will late me. I will be thankful for the fact that I have three demanding children who need and want their mommy.

I honestly wouldn’t change a thing.

P.S. Gigi Photography was featured on Kids in the Hills today! Fun times … 🙂

You are making memories with your precious L’s they will treasure forever. Great job Gillian!! Oh and thanks for the playdough recipe. I will be trying that one as well. Hugs 🙂

I agree with your comments about how time seems to fly by even when we are feel overwhelmed with all the day-to-day activites.
