Mondays.

Do you know why I love Mondays?

I get to clean, craft, snuggle, wash, and have a quiet day at home with all my three girlies. I love it. A fresh start to the week with lots of energy and steam. Yeah, I usually run out by Thursday, but Monday rocks! It’s also our craft day …since all the girls are home and Lacey is not at school for kindergarten.

Yesterday, we made salt dough Valentine heart necklaces … we’re not done them all yet (we ran out of string for the necklace), but they are an easy and cute craft you can do at home with your kids and then give out as presents for Valentine’s Day.
I’m sure you all know how to make salt dough but here’s the recipe JUUUUUUStT in case.

1 cup of flour

1 cup of salt

1/2 cup of water

Mix/knead together until a dough forms. Some recipes call for chilling in the fridge, but we rolled it out right away.

Roll out the dough and create whatever you want! We created Valentine’s Heart Necklaces …  we poked holes in the top with straws  before baking them (350 for an hour or so). After they cooled, we painted and decorated …

We painted them pink and red … true Valentine’s day colours …

They turned out really cute …. !!! Of course, we added some sparkles. I mean, what’s a heart without sparkles?

We also made homemade bread. Okay, okay. I cheated with the breadmaker. It makes fantastic dough. 🙂  And then I just put it in my own bread pans.

I LOVE *fresh* homemade bread. And I’m not saying this to brag. Seriously, just excited that I’m finally learning to bake and cook! It’s been seven years since I got married and I lived off of french fries and coffee for at least the first three years of our marriage. Having kids is forcing me to eat healthier and learn to bake and cook … so I was a bit puffy headed about my bread yesterday …

Sorry. One more picture. Yeah, it’s just bread … but it’s so pretty … 🙂 I secretly (or not so secretly) LOVE to take photos of food so just indulge me.

Beate I love the necklaces. How adorable! And your bread looks amazing. You should check out Artisan Bread in 5 minutes a day by Jeff Herztberg and Zoe Francois from your library. Aside from the Bible, that book has changed my life the most. I feel like a rockstar when I bake 🙂
