A Christian Home

In a world of darkness, let us be the light.
We’re certainly not perfect … but we are aiming for this:

“O give us homes built firm upon the Saviour,
Where Christ is Head, and Counsellor and Guide;
Where ev’ry child is taught His love and favor
And gives his heart to Christ, the crucified:
How sweet to know that tho’ his footsteps waver
His faithful Lord is walking by his side!

O give us homes with godly fathers, mothers,
Who always place their hope and trust in Him;
Whose tender patience turmoil never bothers,
Whose calm and courage trouble cannot dim;
A home where each finds joy in serving others,
And love still shines, tho’ days be dark and grim.

O give us homes where Christ is Lord and Master,
The Bible read, the precious hymns still sung;
Where prayer comes first in peace or in disaster,
And praise is natural speech to ev’ry tongue;
Where mountains move before a faith that’s vaster,
And Christ sufficient is for old and young.

O Lord, our God, our homes are Thine forever!
We trust to Thee their problems, toil, and care;
Their bonds of love no enemy can sever
If Thou art always Lord and Master there:
Be Thou the center of our least endeavor:
Be Thou our Guest, our hearts and homes to share.”

Gigi P.S. Erin, these dresses are from Amazon … but if you are in the U.S., you have a much better selection than us poor Canadians! It is very hard to find good dresses here. I wish I could order from the states but crossing the border makes the dresses way too expensive for us.

Gigi Erin, you are so right. Today’s world is not very feminine for girls and women. In fact, you cannot tell the difference between boys and girls sometimes in their clothing choices. Dressing femininely is something I love! We have chosen to wear dresses from the beginning of childhood (when my eldest was about 6 years old); the girls understand why it is important for them to dress differently than boys because we have talked about it from the beginning. While the older girls could very easily dress like the rest of the world, they choose to dress this way and I am grateful! I’m one to start things with gusto 🙂 … so when I decided to get rid of pants those many years ago, I found it very easy to just start fresh with skirts and dresses. I wouldn’t go back – I love wearing dresses!

Erin Lynn You have the most amazing family photos!!! The girls dresses are all lovely! Where in the world do you find such gloriously feminine clothing? And how do you get your daughters on board with dressing more femininely in todays jeans, tshirts, and leggings world without mandating? You are to be commended.
