A {Girl} After my Own Heart …

I have a little prodigy on my hands.

My five year old LOVES to take photos … a girl after my own heart … seriously. On several occasions, Lacey has taken some beautiful images for me (when no one else is around and I need a photo taken, I will ask her and she is always eager to say yes). She throws the pink camera strap around her neck and holds that heavy camera – my guess is 3.5 lbs or more, depending on the lens – and presses it to her face and directs her subjects with ease while she takes a few pictures …

She amazes me each time – because, seriously 9 times out of 10, her images are better than most snapshots from an adult! And if any of you know anything about focusing, she’s shooting mostly on an aperature of 1.4 or 1.8 so she’s doing pretty good with the focusing, too!

In fact, one of my favorite images she has ever taken will soon be published in a magazine in the U.S.,  Pregnancy Magazine’s Hot Moms Club.

How fun is that?! Lacey’s picture was chosen to be used for an ad for Mom4Life – an amazing online store for mommies everywhere.  The magazine is set to hit newstands September 2009.

I just gotta say that I’m pretty proud of Lacey! Soon, she will be assisting me on my shoots – hahaha! No, seriously. I am totally going to hire her when she’s older – she’ll make a perfect assistant! 😉 And she has to do what I tell her to do! 😀 BONUS! 

 

P.S. If any of my blog readers that live in the U.S. see this magazine hit the stores next month (September 2009), I would be sooo happy if you could send me a copy in the mail! That would make my day!

That is so cool. I know the feeling because my 5 yr old loves to go on ‘photo walks’ with me and he even used my D90 on the latest walk while we were camping. He asks all kinds of questions about the camera and he tells me what HE wants to stop and get pictures of. I’m hoping I have a future assistant in the works too! heehee.

Congrats on the magazine ad. Very cool :))

Rose:) – CONGRATS!!!! I have emailed a few friends in the States and hopefully they will hunt the magazine down and get me a copy for you!
So when can I book my session with your assistant??? I think she should do children’s birthday parties!!! I want to be the first to book her for my daughter’s 2nd! I think that would be so neat….a child capturing the magical moments of children’s birthday parties….okay I wanna be her agent too!
