Reality Check.

I know by this post’s title you might think I’m going to post an “I’m exhausted … this is insane with four kids” blog post … but actually …. I’m not! Hah! Still riding on this pink cloud? Maybe, but I just thought it would share what reality has really, honestly been like this week.

To tell you the truth, I was a bit nervous to have four children. And while it’s still premature to post too much about being experienced in the world of four children (it’s not even been a week yet, I realize that, and Miss Love-bug sleeps 90% of the time!), I have to say it’s going rather smoothly. I honestly think the transition from two to three was much harder. This time around, Abby and I were prepared. We were prepared for the sleeplessness – because we never really left that stage. We were prepared for the craziness – because it was already crazy in this house. We were prepared for the increase in the laundry department – but really, what difference does one load make when you’re already doing two a day? We were prepared for how long it would take to get out the door as a family – seriously, we already knew that it takes us about 10 minutes in total just to do up car seat belts (but we still managed to get everyone ready for 9 a.m. church time this morning – and by we, I mean, me – hah!).

But what we weren’t prepared for … how lovely this new baby would be … how much we would adore her, how our hearts would burst with EVEN more joy and that we would love all our children *THAT* much more … how it would bring all our girls closer together – not further – in friendship and as a family unit.

It’s amazing. And I’m so grateful.

Lucia, the baby until now, is, however, feeling the effects of this week the most. She is exhausted, she is not sleeping well, she is crying lots and she is needing that extra bit of attention. She adores baby Lovelyn, though, and is not showing jealousy towards her new little sister – just showing the need to still be *the* two year old of the house.

In light of that fact, I just love this image … Lucia snuggled up with Lovelyn while I was putting the laundry away … makes my heart melt.

Lacey, being the big sister three times over now, is a pro at this …

A little bit of how mommy & daddy are feeling right now … πŸ˜‰ … thank God for coffee.

Since Lyla was only 18 months old when we brought home Lucia, this is Lyla’s first true experience at being a big sister to a newborn. She is LOVING it. She loves to hold Lovelyn and is always running to get me a cup every time Lucia decides to ‘throw up’. I guess she wants to catch the ‘spit-up’ in the cup. I gotta explain the concept of receiving blankets to her …

Again, a pro. πŸ˜‰

By the end of the week, I could see the girls were getting tired … so much joy, fun and excitement jam packed all in one week. We decided to chill and do an easy craft for our Saturday afternoon together. We let Lucia stay in her pjs all day – she was just so not wanting to get dressed and I thought it was one battle she could win for the week. Lyla, on the other hand, was being very creative in her festive head gear. Lacey was just all about the beading.

We *have* had a great network of support from my mother in law to my gramma to my mom … I am blessed in that area.

But overall, I’d say Lovelyn is definitely the perfect fit for our family – and she*has* made the world so much sweeter just in the five days she has been here …

More mushy gushy posts to follow, I’m sure. And some of you have asked how we came up with the name Lovelyn – I’ll be sure to tell that story shortly, as well! πŸ˜‰Β  Happy Sunday!

Sherri Thank You. Your sharing of so much love is heartwarming and inspiring. I adore the pictures of the girls with their littlest sister. I’m glad they are only experiencing love and not jealousy. Seriously, breathtaking. πŸ™‚ You all were made for this <3 Thanks for giving us a window into your very very full world – full in all of the great ways πŸ˜‰
….I so agree with the 3-4 baby transition – WAY easier than 2-3!!! Three's a crowd – anymore is still a crowd – but what a RICH crowd it is!!!

Keri So in LOVE with Miss Lovelyn!! Beautiful post Gillian. xo

Basking.

There is nothing sweeter than having a newborn snuggled against your chest all night. Nothing can compare.

I am so in love with our wee Lovelyn. And I am so in love with *all* aspects of my family, not just Lovelyn – having a new baby to hold and cherish sheds a beautiful, glowing light of love all over a family circle. And I’m basking in it.

Yes, the house is busy. Yes, the four kids have all woken up during the night at some point over the past few days (some more than others). Yes, Abby & I are both tired right now, but it is all sooooooo worth it. The girls are so in love with their little sister … even Daisy, the dog, seems slightly enamored with all the happiness floating around this home right now.

And can you blame them?
How could you not be in love with this precious little one?

Yes, we managed to do some photos yesterday -this blog post, however, has taken me almost 24 hours to write. πŸ˜‰

You win some, you lose some, right?! πŸ™‚

Okay, so it’s also time to congratulate the winner of the fun guessing game we had going on last week to guess the arrival of our baby …Β  there were so many different guesses and quite a few close ones, but Keri Kitto’s guess was the closest …

Congratulations, Keri! You have won a $40 gift certificate from Heaven Scent Natural Products! Keri, you will love these goodies!

When I got home from the hospital with Lovelyn, this absolutely adorable package arrived just in time for Lovelyn’s first bath … compliments of Heaven Scent Natural Products. What a sweet gift!! I was so blessed!!

Take a peek through their website and pick out what you want, e-mail them and you get to spend that $40 on you! Have fun shopping! For those looking for great natural body products for you or your family, this is another fabulous business to add to the list! IΒ  just used the Little Lambs line on Lovelyn this week and also used the aches and pains rub during the pregnancy when my back was just killing me.

Now, back to the top news of the hour – a poopie diaper is calling my name … πŸ™‚

Tara C Ooooo how cool! Congrats Keri! You will LOVE their stuff! I’ve been using my aches and pains rub (bought it in the stick form cause I don’t like to touch stuff like that. lol!) throughout this pregnancy and it’s been GREAT! I have some of their Little Lambs stuff too.
And what a beautiful picture of your sweet girl! The fact that her little hand is wrapped around her Daddy’s thumb melts my heart! So sweet!

Welcoming {Love} …

How things can change in the matter or a day or two!

She is here!! … she is here … our little baby has arrived and we couldn’t be more IN LOVE!!!

{Please note – a bit of birthing details are included below. Don’t read if your male and find such details disturbing! Hah!}

Monday night, I started to feel some contractions a bit stronger and lower than the usual (non-stop) Braxton Hicks contractions and I *thought* but wasn’t sure that my water broke (isn’t it funny that even on your fourth kid, you still aren’t 100% sure about things?!) … we called my gramma over (she’s sooo awesome!) just in case we had to leave as she was the one to watch the girls for us. At 12:45ish a.m., we decided to go to the hospital. The contractions were painful but I could still walk and moan and groan my way through each contraction. I felt silly even going that early – I thought for sure they were going to say you’re only 2 cms and go back home and relax till later …. but when the nurse checked, I was already 6 cms., my water broke at the same time, and she quickly announced it wouldn’t be long before baby was here …

By 2:38 a.m., little Lovelyn Joy Angelica Gauthier made her ‘spontaneous vaginal delivery’ (as the medical forms so wrote it). Spontaneous, yes. Ridiculously painful, yes. Drug free, fast and furious, before the doctor arrived and with three or maybe four pushes (still finding that part painful to think about!)…. Lovelyn Joy completed our little {big?} family …

She weighed 4 lbs. 11 oz. – our tiniest yet! And she’s a bit of a thumb sucker. Too cute.

Elaine & Jayne – the wonderful nurses who delivered our new baby …

I know everyone wanted me to have a boy, but I am so happy to have another girl … she’s the perfect addition to our family of Pink.

Abby, checking out his newest little girl … he’s getting to be a pro at this by now. And I think he’s liking his little world of ladies, too.

More photos (uh, obviously) to come later … but now, time to snuggle and feed Miss Lovelyn! I’m just so happy she’s here, that our family is together and that this new wonderful, awesome chapter is just beginning. We are so blessed …

P.S. I’ll be going through all the guesses/submissions for the due date/weight/sex of the baby and will post the winner soon. πŸ™‚

October 15, 2010 - 10:44 am

38 weeks.

I saw the doctor yesterday for my regular checkup. 38 weeks. How is that possible? Seriously. Time is flying.

Grrrreeeeat news – the baby is growing lots and it’s now a good Gauthier size – nothing ever to have worried about. πŸ™‚ And apparently, the ‘head is engaged’ so … now we wait … I’m not officially due till October 20th (or the 22nd, not sure, I have two dates, but they are so close, it doesn’t really matter, right?).

I thought it might be kinda fun to have a guessing game on the arrival of baby Gauthier #4 ….Β Β  and then we’ll do a prize for the winner! I have to think of a prize still – let me come up with something creative and fun for the winner … but in the meantime …

Post your thoughts on the following:

-the BIG day (date)

– weight of baby

– sex of baby
Let’s see who can get closest … I have no clue when everything will happen. But just so you know, two babies were two weeks early and one was on time. I was guessing this week, but probably not now … maybe that’s a good thing because it gave me a chance to get a few more photos of the girls with the belly (which I haven’t been able to do much during this pregnancy) *AND* finish up proofing all my sessions.

Mini marshmallows make for great bribery tools – I’m just sayin’.

More pics to come from our little mini belly session… but back to the homeschooling I go ….
