Alas! How dreary would be the world if there was no Santa Claus!…

There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry,

no romance to make tolerable this existence.

Catherine I can’t even imagine how thrilled you must be that it is finally DECEMBER!!! Woooohoooo!

A {Little} Bit More.

And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so?
It came without ribbons
. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags.
And he puzzled and puzzled ’till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before.
What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.

Dr. Seuss

Christmas is so much more than just giving gifts on Christmas Day. So much more than just buying the perfect present for your husband or loved on. So much more than the decorations and the glitter and the lights.
So much more than Santa.
I’m really trying hard this Christmas to teach my girls what it means to give, what it means to have “Christmas spirit”, what it means to show love to others and to not want every single thing in the Sears Wish Book.
And of course, that all comes down to what I, as their mom, do with the girls, as well … so this Sunday, along with some other children from my church, we’re going to be visiting the residents of  local retirement centre and will be singing some Christmas carols to cheer them up. The girls have been practicing and I think it’s going to be tons of fun! 🙂

If you are from Orangeville and are looking for a way to help teach your child about the spirit of Christmas why not join us? We’ll be meeting at the Avalon in the afternoon and will be singing the following songs:

We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Jingle Bells
Away in the Manger

and maybe some more depending on how well the kids hold up! 😉

This is my first time doing something like this … I’m trying to figure out a way to get my hubby to play the guitar with us so we have some music, but even if we don’t, I think the residents will be cheered just by the sight of the cuties singing their hearts out.

Speaking of Christmas and joy … look what my mother in law brought back from her trip to the states this past weekend!!!!!

PINK and PURPLE Christmas trees for the girls!! They each have one in their rooms – Lacey has (you guessed it) pink, Lyla had purple and Lucia, who is napping in her room so I couldn’t snag some photos of her tree, has an itty-bitty mini pink Christmas tree to decorate. The girls LOVE them and I have to admit ….. um, I do to! Do you think Abby would notice if I put up a 6′ foot pink Christmas tree in our living room this year?

No, don’t worry. I’ll let the girls have fun wtih their mini trees and keep the real tree for our family!

Here’s our Pinkalicious tree …
