  • Welcome to the Gigi Blog!

Mother to six Little Women and Two Little Men. Married to a Happy Mortician. Caretaker to goats, chickens and many, MANY bunnies. Photographer. Homeschooler. Lover of Jesus, coffee & tea and all things pink & vintage.

{Little} Liam.

When Little Liam’s mom e-mailed to book her three week old newborn son’s session, I was hesitant – just over three weeks old is a bit late for a newborn session (I prefer to shoot the newborn sessions from about Day 4-7) … but I have to say, Liam proved me wrong! Or at least his momma’s magical touch did! Liam was such a treat and such a sweetie in the studio … and even gave me the sleeping shots that I so need each newborn session.

Liam, little Liam. You are so precious.

Rose:( Gillian…I can’t stop crying each time I see pictures of these people of God who are suffering deeply within their souls.
Thank you for blogging information on how we can help out and know that the monies will get there and used immediately. Now if I can take some of those children who are alone, without parents, without love…..I would in a heartbeat! May GOD carry them in His arms.
I am praying that the travel to Haiti is a safe one and she reaches
out to as many people as she can, God Bless her!

pammelah that is one of the BEST newborn shots I’ve EVER seen! he almost has an expression, its undefinable but so adorable!

Mondays.

Do you know why I love Mondays?

I get to clean, craft, snuggle, wash, and have a quiet day at home with all my three girlies. I love it. A fresh start to the week with lots of energy and steam. Yeah, I usually run out by Thursday, but Monday rocks! It’s also our craft day …since all the girls are home and Lacey is not at school for kindergarten.

Yesterday, we made salt dough Valentine heart necklaces … we’re not done them all yet (we ran out of string for the necklace), but they are an easy and cute craft you can do at home with your kids and then give out as presents for Valentine’s Day.
I’m sure you all know how to make salt dough but here’s the recipe JUUUUUUStT in case.

1 cup of flour

1 cup of salt

1/2 cup of water

Mix/knead together until a dough forms. Some recipes call for chilling in the fridge, but we rolled it out right away.

Roll out the dough and create whatever you want! We created Valentine’s Heart Necklaces …  we poked holes in the top with straws  before baking them (350 for an hour or so). After they cooled, we painted and decorated …

We painted them pink and red … true Valentine’s day colours …

They turned out really cute …. !!! Of course, we added some sparkles. I mean, what’s a heart without sparkles?

We also made homemade bread. Okay, okay. I cheated with the breadmaker. It makes fantastic dough. 🙂  And then I just put it in my own bread pans.

I LOVE *fresh* homemade bread. And I’m not saying this to brag. Seriously, just excited that I’m finally learning to bake and cook! It’s been seven years since I got married and I lived off of french fries and coffee for at least the first three years of our marriage. Having kids is forcing me to eat healthier and learn to bake and cook … so I was a bit puffy headed about my bread yesterday …

Sorry. One more picture. Yeah, it’s just bread … but it’s so pretty … 🙂 I secretly (or not so secretly) LOVE to take photos of food so just indulge me.

Tea for a {Two} Year Old.

I really cannot believe it … two lovely, amazingly beautiful years have passed since our third daughter and most sweetest, cuddliest little baby entered our family … Lucia Marie Clair … a joy to our hearts and a beautiful addition to our lives… and now she’s two. A big girl. Wearing birl girl underwear (well, sometimes). Talking up a storm. Refusing to eat her veggies and go to sleep at night. 🙂 Entering the world of toddlerhood with such excitement.  But still giving the most amazing cuddles and kisses.

We celebrated her birthday in tea party fashion …
