“Working hard for something we don’t care about is called stress.
Working hard for something we love is called passion.”
–Simon Sinek
As our seasons change over from harvesting to hiberating, our little tribe recently celebrated a little milestone in our family story.
After five years of constructing fences, adding several gardens (flower and vegetable), building paddocks, framing up a greenhouse, a side porch, a gazebo and some picket fences … I felt it was time we entered a provincial competition through the PEI Rural Beautification Society. Last year, we won first place in the vegetable garden – and that was so very rewarding!
With much nervousness, we decided to enter three categories this year. We were judged during the summer until September, but the results are not known until late Fall.
We attended the awards ceremony recently and we were awarded with 2nd place for our family vegetable garden, 2nd place for Heritage Home and …. the big winner was the provincial award for Prince Edward Island’s Farm and Home Improvement!
We had the most exciting night at the awards ceremony together as a family. Everyone treated us so wonderfully and welcomed the children with joy.
It is truly a beautiful blessing to work together to accomplish tasks as improving one’s own property – although the summer seem hot and full of endless projects and hard-effort chores, we are so grateful that the Good Lord has given us this little farm to steward.
Thank you to my sweet family for working together towards this goal and award!
